في مجمع 'أوركيد' النباتي المعزول، عُثر على الملياردير وعالم النبات 'نادر' مقتولاً بضربة قاتلة على رأسه في 'الحديقة المفتوحة' التي تتوسط المجمع. حدثت الجريمة الليلة. جميع المشتبه بهم كانوا داخل أقسام المجمع الزجاجية المغلقة التي تحيط بالحديقة. المجمع مؤمن بالكامل من الخارج بنظام إلكتروني صارم يمنع دخول الغرباء، مما يؤكد أن القاتل من الداخل.

تم العثور على جثة الضحية ملقاة على العشب، وبجانبه ساعته اليدوية المحطمة التي توقفت عقاربها تماماً عند الساعة 8:10 مساءً نتيجة العراك العنيف مع القاتل. الأجواء كانت متوترة هذا المساء، وكل شخص في المجمع يملك سراً يخشى انكشافه.
